How to Record Multi-Person/Multi-Device Datasets

This guide explains how to record synchronized data from multiple BI-Vital sensors using the BI-Vital App and its LinkHub module.

1. Prepare Each BI-Vital Sensor

Before starting a multi-person recording:

  • Follow all steps from First Steps with BI-Vital — from Section 1 to Section 4.3 — for each sensor included in the experiment.
  • Make sure all sensors are fully charged and configured correctly.

2. Open the BI-Vital App

  1. Download and open the BI-Vital App on your smartphone.

  2. Navigate to the LinkHub Module to start synchronized recordings.

3. Connect All Sensors

  1. Ensure all BI-Vitals are powered on and within Bluetooth range of your smartphone.
  2. In the first LinkHub window, you’ll see a list of available device IDs (the 4-digit hex code on top of each BI-Vital).
  3. Select all IDs of the sensors that should be part of the recording.

4. Start Recording

  1. After connecting to all selected sensors, open the menu in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Record → Start to begin the synchronized recording.

➡️ All BI-Vitals will start sequentially and vibrate once when recording begins.

5. Add Labels During Recording

While recording, you can annotate events using the Labels area in the app.
This allows you to mark specific timestamps with short notes or messages.

6. Stop Recording

To stop all BI-Vital recordings simultaneously:

  1. Open the menu again (top-right corner).
  2. Select Record → Stop.

All devices will stop recording in sequence.

7. Shutdown All Devices (Optional)

You can also shut down all connected BI-Vitals directly from this window:

  • In the same menu, choose Shutdown All to power off every connected sensor automatically.
    This eliminates the need to manually turn off each device.

8. Download the Label File

  1. Go one screen back in the app.
  2. Open the Label Folder to find the label file created during the session.
  3. Download it from the app’s memory to your device storage — you can then transfer it to your computer for analysis.

9. Download Data from Each BI-Vital

to download the recorded files from each BI-Vital sensor via the Web Toolbox.
