First Steps with BI-Vital
1. Buttons and Connectors
Below you can see the main buttons and connectors of the BI-Vital Sensor:
- User Button ā The main control button for starting or stopping recordings.
- Power Button ā A small recessed button used to power the device on and off. It is usually pressed briefly.
- USB-C Port ā Used for charging the device and connecting it to a computer for configuration or data transfer.
2. Power On / Off
Turn On:
Press the Power Button shortly.
ā”ļø The LED blinks and the device vibrates 3 times.
Turn Off:
Press the Power Button shortly.
ā”ļø The LED blinks and the device vibrates 5 times.
3. Charging
- Connect USB-C to a power supply (min. 0.63 W for fast charging).
- The LED color shows the battery level:

4. Recording a Dataset
4.1 Connect and Configure
- Open the Web Toolbox.
- Connect BI-Vital via USB-C to your computer.
ā ļø Works only in Chrome-based browsers. - Follow the instructions shown at the top of the Toolbox website to configure the sensors.
- Disconnect the BI-Vital from your computer.

4.2 Attach the Sensor to the Chest Belt (for ECG Recording)
If you plan to record ECG data, a chest belt (e.g., from Polar or similar) is required.

Moisten the chest belt (on the side that touches the skin) slightly with water. This improves conductivity and reduces noise.
ā ļø Do not moisten the BI-Vital sensor itself. It is not waterproof. - Attach the BI-Vital Sensor to the chest belt so that the printed text on the sensor is upright and readable.
- Ensure that the electrodes of the belt have good skin contact.

4.3 Start Recording
- Press and hold the User Button for about 5 seconds.
- While the button is being pressed, the LED lights up red to indicate the button press.
- Once the required press time is reached, the device vibrates once.
- The red LED fades for about 5 seconds, indicating that the recording has started.
- While recording is active, a short red blink every 3 seconds indicates that recording is still running.
4.4 Stop Recording
- Press and hold the User Button again for about 5 seconds.
- While the button is being pressed, the LED lights up red continuously.
- Once the required press time is reached, the device gives a short vibration.
- This indicates that the recording has stopped.
4.5 Download the File
- Reconnect BI-Vital to your computer via USB-C.
- Open the Web Toolbox.
- Go to the Download section.
- Select the desired file and click Download to save it to your computer.
